Dr. Enamul Hoq started his scientific career in 1988 with Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, Mymensingh. Dr. Hoq has well experiences in the field of fish feed and nutrition, integrated fish farming, socio-economic impact study and shrimp farming in coastal areas. He was the pioneer researcher in assessing the fish feed ingredients resources of Bangladesh and their biochemical composition; socio-economic impacts of coastal shrimp farming and exploring the mangrove fisheries resources and biodiversity of Sundarbans. He was in the team of first identifying and compiling bibliographic information on fisheries research and development, scientists and research workers in Bangladesh.
Dr. Hoq has over 60 scientific publications in national and international journals in addition to good numbers of technical reports and popular articles. He is the author of two books namely “Bangladesher Chhoto Mach- A book on small indigenous fish species of Bangladesh” and “Fish & Fisheries of Sundarbans Mangrove”, and edited 6 technical reports and workshop proceedings. He is the Founder Assistant Editor of the Bangladesh Journal of Fisheries Research and Fisheries Newsletter, and attached to Editorial Board of Progressive Agriculture Journal published from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
Dr. Hoq has well experienced knowledge in editing, designing and printing of scientific reports, training manuals, proceedings, extension booklets/leaflets etc. Designing cover of over 40 technical books goes to his credit. He is a member of International Society for Mangrove Ecosystem, Japan; Asian Fisheries Society, Philippines; Network of Tropical Aquaculture Scientists, Malaysia; Biodiversity Research Group of Bangladesh (Founder Life Member). Professionally he also involved as Member-Secretary, BOBLME National Task Force- An inter-ministerial body for implementation of a programme on Bay of Bengal under FAO/GEF fund coordinated from Chennai, India; Member, Institutional Biosaftey Committee, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council, Dhaka. |
